The journey Within by Kakoli Sen & You are the mind by Ami Patel
In my works here & there surfaces a gentle breezy nostalgia rendered subtly through old letters, windowpanes, compass, hourglass, a grandfather clock ticking off days, hours , months, with an amazing regularity that folds up much loves times in its all-embracing-grasp. I grope my way through the must cobwebs of time. For me, the foremost source of inspiration is nature, the most important, initial source. Like a contemplative walk in the morning mist, ordinary objects in nature- flowers, birds, hills- begin to take shape through the fog and recede from your vision as you pass. Being a woman has that thing about it, you get hurt easily, see meanings where none exist, try to reach the depths of everything. Being an artist doesn’t help much either. A combination of both complicates matters, or perhaps simplifies it. The interest in woman-centric themes shows in feministic inspirations that I have worked on with a touch of fantasia. The works portray women reaching out into the space, perhaps for freedom, perhaps to lend a helping hand, or then again perhaps to strive & touch the stars. The forms encompass the myriad roles that I am asked to play – now a creator, protector, a mother, a child, a friend, a victim, victor, in- charge, submissive, loving, and jealous – a kaleidoscopic view of the female form.

Ultimately the journey within ones ’ self; lead us to a deep sense of joy, love, and soul contentment. The deep realization that there will never come such a time that everything will be settled. Venture within and explore the treasures that makes you a beautiful human being. My this series of Assemblage is the musing of that voyage.

Human beings live life based on their perceptions. Everyone has their own beliefs and experiences which are translated into work and behaviour. For me, life is a layer of experiences. I define life as formless and infinite. Thus all my forms are not perfect. I see perfection in imperfection.My art is born in the same way, depicting different layers of perception, using different materials like metal , wood and clay, some tough , some soft but all enduring. Life is thus an illusion, so live in the moment and Experience the Experience.
Mind is the illusion. That which is Not But appears, and appears so much that you think that you are the mind.
