Joydip Acharjee is a Baroda-based artist who is deeply influenced by the moving images that the hustle and bustle of the city make him experience, and the architectural sites with their repetitive designs and patterns. As a painter, these architectural structures that he creates, signify different aspects of unplanned heartless urbanization. The chronology of urbanization, the rapid encroachment of architectural structures on pristine agricultural land is a strong undercurrent in his paintings. He tries to be the silent observer who neither hates nor loves; but simply records these architectural structures.
Acharjee completed his BA from Government College of Art and Craft, Tripura and MFA from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata.
He has exhibited at Emami Chisel Art (2017), CIMA (2017), Kochi Students Biennale (2016-2017), ICCR Kolkata (2016), and the Camel Art Foundation (2014). He has been a recipient of GCAC Award (2013-2014), Ahana (2012), Karukrit Award 2014.
