Debashish Dutta (b. 1973, Balurghat, West Bengal, India) completed his Bachelor’s degree in Painting from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, in 1999. His largely figurative practice reflects the visual sensibilities of the Bengal School, often incorporating architectural elements and references to Indian miniature painting. Working primarily with oil and acrylic on canvas, Dutta explores the rhythms and contradictions of urban life through symbolic representations of people and places. He has exhibited widely in group and solo exhibitions since 1998 and currently lives and works in Baroda.
