Khanjan Dalal (b. 1975, Ahmedabad, India) is a ceramic artist whose practice explores the expressive possibilities of clay, often blurring the boundaries between functional pottery and sculptural form. Through experimentation with diverse materials and firing techniques, including traditional craft based technique of firing raw clay with wood as a fuel source to achieve a plethora of natural colors and textures as the molten wood ash interacts with the minerals in the clay at a very high temperature. His work investigates the relationship between material, process, and transformation. Balancing studio pottery with sculptural installations, Dalal’s practice reflects a dialogue between craftsmanship, rhythm, and contemplative expression.
