Prepositions
Prepositions aim at placing artists within their context of practice without bracketing them under any grand thematic. It attempts to create a terrain where the artist’s respective linguistic explorations find a possible connection with each other in a manner of free permutations and play. Without forcing a coherence of an imagined position the show aims at giving ample space for every artist’s creative location to express in its fullest effect. From abstract non- representative critiques of the art object itself to conventional reinstatements of the aesthetic figurations, from decorative narrative iterations to photography-based painterly representations, the artists in the show explore various linguistic combinations which are but the expressions of the dilemmas of our contemporary times. The sculptural explorations of new materials and mediums attempt at finding new meanings in conventional expressions. The prints extend in self-reflexive ways to express emotional and inner world dilemmas to medium-based figurative abstractions and also extend into a biographical critique of the societal conditions. Overall, ‘prepositions’ attempt to relatively take stock of the practices of the artists in the studio and place them in a field for a wider appreciation.
