His earlier work revolved around domestic objects as witness to one’s life events and repositories of memory floated in a statelessness and fluid layers of gouache.
During the pandemic, confined within four walls, mind began to travel in the landscape of history, memory and imagination. Patterns found in close observations of nature, landscape created from menacing wastes of development, merged. The natural phenomenon such as sunrise and sunset, mystery of moonlight, star-studded night sky being complemented by dancing fireflies—all seemed surreal.
The shapes of his paintings became irregular, growing organically, balancing the collage of finely painted forms and the rough edges of torn pieces from another painting done at another time. These are paintings in time.
