Harshil Patel was born in 1982 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Patel obtained a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the chelsea collage of art and design ,University of the arts London . He attended the Sheth C.N. College of Fine Arts there, where he completed a diploma in Drawing and Painting in 1998.

His hometown of Ahmedabad prominently features in Patel’s compositions. Street scenes from the walled city form a large source of inspiration for the artist and several of Patel's works have been created en plein air in the streets of heritage city. Harshil has done several solo and group shows across India and London.

The artist is the recipient of an array of awards and honours, including awards from the Gujarat State Lalit Kala Academy in 2000, and from the Western Region Camlin Art Foundation in 2001 and 2002. Art society of India in 2004 .

Harshils works are in numerous corporate collections across Indian, USA, UK and Middle East.
