Saumya Bandyopadhyay

Saumya Bandyopadhyay (b. Kolkata, West Bengal, India) is a contemporary artist whose practice spans multiple mediums, creating poetic visual spaces where dream, metaphor, and lived reality intersect. Now based in Ahmedabad, his work explores the emotional and philosophical complexities of human existence, often reflecting on societal perceptions and power structures. Trained as a sculptor, he completed his B.F.A. from Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata, and his M.F.A. from the College of Art, University of Delhi. His imagery blends symbolism and narrative, blurring the boundaries between the real and the imagined. Drawing from mythology, iconography, and elemental metaphors, his recent works explore themes of endurance, transformation, and vitality. Through continuous experimentation, Bandyopadhyay’s practice remains responsive to both social realities and metaphysical inquiry.
